Biography Prasanya Sarkar is a Research Scholar in Geography at Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, Koch Bihar, West Bengal, India. He is also serving as a State Aided College Teacher (SACT) in the Department of Geography at Cooch Behar College, where he is actively involved in undergraduate teaching and academic mentoring. His research interests primarily focus on Geographical Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, landslide susceptibility mapping, watershed prioritization, eco-tourism potential assessment, and multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques. He has extensive experience in applying advanced analytical methods such as AHP, TOPSIS, Entropy, CRITIC, FUCOM, and various machine learning models for environmental and geomorphological studies, particularly in the Eastern Himalayan region. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed research articles published in reputed international journals, including studies on the Teesta River Basin, Rani Khola Basin, and Kalimpong–Darjeeling Himalaya, with an emphasis on sustainable planning and hazard assessment. His research integrates geospatial modelling with statistical and decision-support frameworks to address real-world environmental challenges.
