Dr. Snehasis Bhakta is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Cooch Behar College in India. His research interests lie in the development and application of protein binding nanoparticles using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), next-generation materials for the detection and separation of environmental pollutants and pharmaceutically important compounds, and understanding the potentials and barriers in the industrialization of nanomaterials. Dr. Bhakta obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut in 2017 under the guidance of Prof. James F. Rusling. His doctoral research focused on the design and synthesis of surface-imprinted nanoparticles for protein recognition and separation. Prior to that, he completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) in 2011, where his thesis explored ion and molecular recognition by glycoconjugates through absorption and emission studies. He also holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira and has a strong academic background. In terms of research experience, Dr. Bhakta worked as a Scientist at the Central Pulp and Paper Research Institute in Saharanpur, UP, India in 2020. He also served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Nanoscale Research Facility, IIT Delhi, under the guidance of Prof. Prashant Mishra from 2018 to 2020, and at the Bioengineering Department, Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA, under Prof. Ambika Bajpayee from 2017 to 2018.
